Amazing Assembly

What an amazing assembly we had this morning. Our first TRIBE assembly with all children from Nursery to Year 6 attending. We had about 97% children wearing their Tribe t-shirts and they looked absolutely fantastic.
Thank you to all those of you who supported me in getting such a good percentage of children wearing the t-shirts:-
Sophie Fong (Sales assistant in the uniform shop)
Erica Liao (Cashier)
Linda Kuys, Catherine Suriarchi and Rachel Robinson (BPPTA)
My Assistant Heads - Gillian, Craig and Karen for opening up the shop for Year 5 and 6
My Deputy Head, Duncan and my husband Nick for putting up with me!
and YOU for buying the t-shirts!

Size 8 Tribe t-shirts

NEWS FLASH
We have just found out that the smallest size Tribe t-shirts (size 8) will not arrive in school until 16:00 on Thursday afternoon. Sophie has kindly agreed to open the uniform shop from 7:30am on Friday for parents to come in to buy the t-shirts for our smallest pupils. Thank you Sophie. This means that hopefully even our smallest pupils will have their Tribe t-shirts on for our assembly on Friday at 8:15.

A huge thank you to all of you who have already bought the t-shirts, I can't wait to see the children wearing them on Friday.

Tribe t-shirt update

Earlier on today we ran out of the 'size 8' tribe t-shirts in all 4 colours. Size 8 is the smallest we stock. Our supplier has been fantastic, and will do his very best to have more in school by Thursday afternoon. If your child is too small for a size 10, and you really want to get a size 8, please visit the uniform shop on Thursday.
Many thanks

The Tribe t-shirts are fantastic!

Dear Parents
The Tribe t-shirts arrived yesterday, and they really are lovely.

Sizes available - Size 8,10, 12, 14, small adult and medium adult. The sizes are identical to the PE polo shirts.

Many of you made the most of the additional hour the uniform shop was open yesterday, and have already bought your children's t-shirts, but I know many of you are going to find it difficult to get in to school to buy the t-shirts before the assembly on Friday.

So, we are going to do 2 things:-

  • The uniform shop will also open today until 4:30.
  • Tomorrow and Thursday the Year 5 and Year 6 pupils will be allowed to go to the uniform shop and buy their t-shirts. They will also be able to buy t-shirts for younger brothers and sisters. Please ensure you put the money safely in an envelope with your child's name and class clearly marked, just in case they drop their money. Please also ensure the children know what size or sizes to buy. Teachers will be on hand to ensure they get the correct size, but it might be a good idea to put the size or sizes required on the front of the envelope too.
On Friday they will need to wear their Tribe t-shirt and school uniform trousers, shorts, skirts, skorts or PE shorts. They will also need to wear their black school shoes. If you can not buy a t-shirt before Friday, the children will need to wear their normal school uniform and the teachers will ensure your child has the correct colour head band. Please do not put your children in any other t-shirts.
Many thanks

Tribe t-shirts available from Monday

I hope that the tribe t-shirts will be available for the Uniform Shop from Monday. I would really encourage you to go to the Uniform shop and buy a t-shirt as soon as possible because we have our first Tribe Assembly on Friday 29th August, and it would be lovely to see your children in the t-shirts.

We are opening the Uniform Shop until 4:30 on Monday and Tuesday to help parents who find the usual closing time a little too early. If you can not get to the Uniform Shop before Friday, please do not worry, the teachers will be making wrist bands or head bands for all those children without a tribe t-shirt.

The t-shirts will cost NT$300.

Your children should know what tribe they are in, well the older ones anyway, but I will be asking the teachers to communicate this information with you on their blogs.

I look forward to seeing as many children in their tribe t-shirts as possible on Friday.
Many thanks

Welcome to the new academic year

Dear All
Welcome to the new academic year, and welcome to the new BRITISH PRIMARY SECTION! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I enjoyed 7 weeks back in England with my family and friends, and the 7 weeks just flew by. The weather was fantastic which made my holiday even better.

There are quite a few items to cover on this blog, so I hope you have a pen and paper ready to write down some notes and dates!

CURRICULUM EVENING - Thursday 28th August between 6:30 and 8:00
This evening is for parents of children in Years 1 to 6 only. You will have the chance to meet your child's teacher, and all specialists including Learning Support, EAL, Chinese, PE, Music, ICT (Computing), Art and DT (Design Technology). You will have a brief introduction to the actual curriculum as well as an outline of year group expectations. At 8:00, Mr Milner and Mr Boit will also lead an information session about becoming a member of our FOBISIA Under 11 Sports Team for any parents who are interested.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Nursery and Reception parents are invited to attend information sessions during the day. Reception parents are invited in to meet the Reception team on Tuesday 26th August at 1:40, and Nursery parents on Tuesday 2nd September at 1:40. There will be more information on the Unit Blogs as soon as they are ready.

SCRAPBOOK COMPETITION
If your child has completed a summer scrapbook, please make sure it is put on the table outside the NEW Primary Section Office on the 2nd floor (directly above the Parents' Cafe). All scrapbooks must be on the table by MONDAY 25th AUGUST.

UNIFORMS
Firstly, can I apologise for the fact that the Uniform Shop has been missing so many items. Because we have changed many of the  the uniform items, our supplier has had difficulty ensuring all the items we wanted were ready. Sophie has done a fantastic job trying to ensure parents can buy what they need but it has been a very difficult time for her.

The majority of children have returned to school looking extremely smart, and I thank you for your support with this. There are still a few children who need black shoes, but on the whole the launch of the new uniform items has gone very well. The shoes need to be totally black as modelled by 2 Infant children below.
No white soles, or red ticks or silver flashes please!

We will now begin a transition period as we move from the old to the new, but this transition period will last for at least a year. So in the Nursery, we will see both the old and the new red t-shirts, and in Years 1 and 2, we will see both the stripes and the new grey polo items. As you can see from the photo, they look quite nice side by side, but eventually, all Year 1 and 2 children will be wearing the grey polo shirts or dresses.

However, the stripes remain in place for children between Year 3 and Years 9:-

And finally, can I make a plea to parents to send in to school any personal identity swipe card that might be lying around the house! It is vital that all children between Year 1 and Year 6 have their card in school. If your child has lost their card, they need to purchase a new one through Gloria who is in charge of the cafeteria at the cost of NT$200.

Please come to see Mr Millward or myself at any time, our doors are always open. We are happy to talk to anyone about anything, however small your concern or worry may or may not be. Our new offices are on the second floor above the parents' cafe. If we are busy, Debra or Diana are happy to make an appointment for you. We look forward to working with you to meet your children's needs.
