Welcome to the new academic year

Dear All
Welcome to the new academic year, and welcome to the new BRITISH PRIMARY SECTION! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I enjoyed 7 weeks back in England with my family and friends, and the 7 weeks just flew by. The weather was fantastic which made my holiday even better.

There are quite a few items to cover on this blog, so I hope you have a pen and paper ready to write down some notes and dates!

CURRICULUM EVENING - Thursday 28th August between 6:30 and 8:00
This evening is for parents of children in Years 1 to 6 only. You will have the chance to meet your child's teacher, and all specialists including Learning Support, EAL, Chinese, PE, Music, ICT (Computing), Art and DT (Design Technology). You will have a brief introduction to the actual curriculum as well as an outline of year group expectations. At 8:00, Mr Milner and Mr Boit will also lead an information session about becoming a member of our FOBISIA Under 11 Sports Team for any parents who are interested.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

Nursery and Reception parents are invited to attend information sessions during the day. Reception parents are invited in to meet the Reception team on Tuesday 26th August at 1:40, and Nursery parents on Tuesday 2nd September at 1:40. There will be more information on the Unit Blogs as soon as they are ready.

SCRAPBOOK COMPETITION
If your child has completed a summer scrapbook, please make sure it is put on the table outside the NEW Primary Section Office on the 2nd floor (directly above the Parents' Cafe). All scrapbooks must be on the table by MONDAY 25th AUGUST.

UNIFORMS
Firstly, can I apologise for the fact that the Uniform Shop has been missing so many items. Because we have changed many of the  the uniform items, our supplier has had difficulty ensuring all the items we wanted were ready. Sophie has done a fantastic job trying to ensure parents can buy what they need but it has been a very difficult time for her.

The majority of children have returned to school looking extremely smart, and I thank you for your support with this. There are still a few children who need black shoes, but on the whole the launch of the new uniform items has gone very well. The shoes need to be totally black as modelled by 2 Infant children below.
No white soles, or red ticks or silver flashes please!

We will now begin a transition period as we move from the old to the new, but this transition period will last for at least a year. So in the Nursery, we will see both the old and the new red t-shirts, and in Years 1 and 2, we will see both the stripes and the new grey polo items. As you can see from the photo, they look quite nice side by side, but eventually, all Year 1 and 2 children will be wearing the grey polo shirts or dresses.

However, the stripes remain in place for children between Year 3 and Years 9:-

And finally, can I make a plea to parents to send in to school any personal identity swipe card that might be lying around the house! It is vital that all children between Year 1 and Year 6 have their card in school. If your child has lost their card, they need to purchase a new one through Gloria who is in charge of the cafeteria at the cost of NT$200.

Please come to see Mr Millward or myself at any time, our doors are always open. We are happy to talk to anyone about anything, however small your concern or worry may or may not be. Our new offices are on the second floor above the parents' cafe. If we are busy, Debra or Diana are happy to make an appointment for you. We look forward to working with you to meet your children's needs.
